Florida Memorial University Selects TS&L for Campus Safety Overhaul with Blue Light Towers

Florida Memorial University has partnered with TS&L to replace all existing emergency systems with cutting-edge Knightscope Blue Light Emergency Towers. This major safety upgrade will enhance emergency response access across campus, featuring solar-powered towers with two-way communication and high-visibility lighting. FMU joins a growing list of leading Southern universities investing in TS&L’s public safety solutions.

June 18, 2025 – Miami Gardens, FL — Florida Memorial University (FMU), South Florida’s only historically Black university, has selected Transportation Solutions & Lighting (TS&L) to lead a campus-wide safety upgrade with state-of-the-art Knightscope Blue Light Emergency Towers and Call Boxes.


This transformative project will replace all existing emergency systems across the university’s campus, significantly enhancing response capabilities and student safety. FMU’s decision underscores its continued investment in student well-being and its commitment to fostering a secure learning environment.

TS&L will oversee the full deployment, which includes new solar-powered emergency towers equipped with high-visibility lighting, two-way communication, and seamless integration with FMU’s campus security infrastructure. These units are designed to operate reliably 24/7, even in extreme weather conditions, and provide students, faculty, and visitors with immediate access to emergency services at the push of a button.


Florida Memorial now joins a growing list of institutions across the Southeast upgrading their campuses with TS&L and Knightscope technology — including Vanderbilt University, LSU, Georgia State, University of Tennessee, and more.
