Georgia State University Expands Campus Safety Infrastructure with Additional Blue Light Emergency Technology

Transportation Solutions & Lighting (TS&L) has partnered with Georgia State University to enhance campus safety by deploying additional blue light emergency technology across Downtown Atlanta. This initiative aims to improve emergency response and create a safer environment for the university community.

ATLANTA, GA | October 25, 2025 Transportation Solutions & Lighting (TS&L), a leading integrator of campus safety and critical communications infrastructure, announced today an expanded agreement to support ongoing safety improvements at Georgia State University. This initiative includes the deployment of additional blue light emergency technology across the university’s satellite campuses and select locations in Downtown Atlanta.

This expansion reflects Georgia State’s continued investment in modern, visible safety infrastructure that helps strengthen emergency response, improve situational awareness, and support a safer environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

“Georgia State is setting the standard for what a modern, integrated campus safety network should look like,” said Joe Hunter. Chief Engineer at TS&L. “This isn’t just equipment it’s a system approach. Our team is proud to support Georgia State with solutions that are reliable, serviceable, and designed for real-world emergency use.”

Strengthening Coverage Across Multiple Campuses

The expanded project will support safety upgrades across Georgia State’s broader campus footprint, including satellite locations such as Perimeter College campuses (e.g., Alpharetta, Clarkston, Decatur, Dunwoody, and Newton) and targeted areas within the Downtown Atlanta campus environment.

Planned improvements may include:

  • Additional blue light emergency tower locations in high-traffic areas
  • Enhanced critical communications and public-facing emergency call capability
  • Options for mass notification / voice speaker capability (where applicable)
  • System-ready infrastructure to support future safety technology integration

“Large, multi-campus environments demand consistent support and fast response,” added Kortney Bacchus, Operations Manager at TS&L. “Our focus is making sure the system stays operational and dependable not just on day one, but long after installation.”

TS&L will support the project through turnkey services such as site walks and placement recommendations, deployment coordination and installation support, and ongoing service, maintenance, and operational support.
